I’m a gamer, a writer, and a student, unfortunately in that order. I’m taking Political Science and Psychology at Concordia University. I’m currently doing QA and design consultation for game developer North Side Inc. I write about video games. A topic I know quite well. I’ve been playing video game since I was 3 years old, and have been following the industry for just as long. I’m not an expert in much. I don’t get women (then again who does, am I right guys!), I’m a pretty average student, and lets face it, I’m not a great writer, but this, gaming, this I know, and I’m happy to share what I know with all of you. I’ve been writing for 3 years now. Besides video game coverage, I also do technology reporting for softcity.com and write occasionally for Seared, a Montreal based food blog. I’ve done movie reviews and have written a relationship column in the past, but at the end of the day, my passion is video games. Sometimes to the detriments of my relationships, but I wouldn’t trade my gaming experience for the world. I’ve seen and done more than anyone can possibly see or do in a lifetime, on lazy Sunday mornings as everyone sleeps. I’ve searched and explored faraway lands and distant planets, all before breakfast. I can become a rock star overnight or save the princess for hundredth time because that never gets olds. In a world where we all want to make a difference, I do, but for different worlds each with their own problem. It’s fun to be the hero, the anti-hero, villain on occasion, or even a God. This is what video games mean to me. Call it escapism if you want, but like any form of media its just trying to entertain us with, I admit, hit or miss narratives, complex to simplistic interactions, and pretty to not so pretty pictures to distract us from the real world. Then again, you can say this about any book, movie, or TV show. However, those times you find a compelling story, amazing characters, and interaction so immersive you can swear that you’re right there, these are the times I live for, and are the times I want you guys to know about. So thanks for reading stuff from a kid who has obviously played way too many video games for his own good.
