Montreal gets ready to romp

Justforlaughs2 - Edited

Just For Laughs announced its 2014 festival lineup this week, showing once again why it is the biggest comedy festival in the world. Unveiling this year’s big name draws were Vice-President of Programming, Robbie Praw, along with comedian James Adomian, himself on this year’s lineup.

Hosting the galas at Place des Arts this year are the legendary Don Rickles, as well as Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg and Canadian comedy super-star Russell Peters, closing out the festival with two gala shows on July 26th and 27th.

The big names aren’t all confined to the galas. Marc Maron returns to the fest with an all new show as part of the College Humour Comic Pro series. Parks and Rereation’s Aziz Ansari will be performing his solo show, Modern Romance. And Ansari’s Parks and Rec co-star Nick Offerman will be on hand at Talk of the Fest, along with SNL’s master impersonator Kate McKinnon.

Also returning are festival favourites like Lewis Back and Tommy Tiernan. Of course, The Nasty Show returns – hosted by Bobby Slayton and featuring Montreal’s own Derek Seguin (if you haven’t seen his stand-up, perhaps you caught his Language Police sketches on YouTube). Another Montreal comic, Los Angeles-based Angelo Tsarouchas, will be featured in The Ethnic Show, and the high-energy Godfrey hosts The Relationship Show. For something a little different, you can watch the cast, crew, and creators of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in candid conversation about putting together the smash hit show. Or catch the show’s Chelsea Peretti at her one-woman show.

Your chances of being able to say of a future star “I saw him/her back in…” are high at Variety Magazines 10 Comics to Watch or one of The New Faces Of Comedy shows. Everyone started somewhere, right?
