I particularly appreciated your calling attention to the "excruciatingly meek fight sequences," which were nothing if not cringe-inducing. And the most unfortunate shackling of Sylvie Guillem -- one of the greatest dancers today, "burdened by unwieldy props that distort the impeccable lines of her body." It was like seeing a thoroughbred hitched to a plow. Very disappointing. Dance + theatre, as opposed to being greater than the sum of its parts, was markedly less. I haven't read the Quebec press yet, so I don't yet know if they're fawning on Lepage (or shitting on him); but I thank you for penning such a succinct, accurate articulation of what I was feeling the whole way through the show.
